📅 ProPGF Batch 2: Review & Decision Timeline

The Selection Committee will operate on the following timeline for Batch 2:

📍December 2025 – Applications Opened Projects were invited to submit proposals outlining how they plan to build on Filecoin and contribute to Filecoin’s core ecosystem metrics. Applications included proposed milestones, budgets, verification plans, and clear success criteria.

We received 100+ applications in Batch 2, spanning a broad spectrum of work across the ecosystem, including core infrastructure, economic and governance research, sustainability initiatives, developer tooling and training, and more. It was encouraging to see such a wide and diverse range of proposals aligned with Filecoin’s long-term growth.

📍 Early January 2026 – Review Cycle Begins The review committee began evaluating all submitted applications in the first week of January. Reviewers have the month of January to assess proposals.

This phase includes reading applications, independently scoring them, conducting interviews where needed, and aligning on overall prioritization.

📍 End of January 2026 – Final Decisions The committee aims to finalize Batch 2 selections by the end of January, with results shared shortly thereafter.

During the review period, reviewers may contact applicants directly via Karma in comments and, where helpful, schedule calls to clarify questions, refine proposals, or request additional context before final approval.

📍 February 2026 – KYC & Payouts

Once final decisions are made, selected projects will begin the KYC and onboarding process in February. Payouts will be processed after KYC is successfully completed, in line with the agreed milestone structure.

🧭 Responsibilities of the Selection Committee

The Selection Committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring milestone-based funding goes toward high-impact work for the Filecoin network. Their responsibilities include:

1. Assessing Alignment with Filecoin Network Growth

Committee members evaluate whether a project’s work and milestones directly support the network’s core needs, including:

  • Strengthening core dependencies
  • Improving developer experience and tooling
  • Contributing to research, performance, and resilience of Filecoin
  • Expanding ecosystem adoption and utility
  • Advancing Filecoin’s compute, storage, and data onboarding pipeline

2. Reviewing Application Responses Thoughtfully

The application form is designed to give reviewers clarity on:

  • The project’s goals
  • The pathway from outputs → outcomes → network-level impact
  • Milestones and their verification criteria
  • Why the work matters for Filecoin right now

Reviewers use this information to identify what aligns best with Filecoin’s ecosystem priorities.

3. Conducting Reviews, Interviews & Final Alignment

The committee will:

  • Review all applications
  • Conduct interviews or deep-dives when needed
  • Collaborate to align on recommended projects
  • Make final decisions on which proposals should receive funding under Batch 2

4. Defining What Should Be Funded

At a high level, reviewers will prioritize:

  • Work that moves Filecoin’s core metrics
  • Work that addresses essential infrastructure gaps
  • Work that enables ecosystem participants (such as storage providers, developers, users) to succeed
  • Experiments or research with clear learning value
  • Teams with high credibility and verifiable progress plans

Funding will go to critical, enabling, and meaningfully incremental work with measurable outcomes.

🔭 Looking Ahead

The Batch 2 Selection Committee plays an important role in driving a sustainable, milestone-based funding system for the Filecoin ecosystem. Their work ensures that capital supports projects driving real progress in infrastructure, research, tooling, and community growth.

Thank you to the Selection Committee for their commitment and we look forward to sharing the results of the review cycle.
